I was born and raised in Scotland completing a BSc (Hons) at St Andrews University in Physiology & Medical Biology at 1st Class level. I then completed my medical school training in South Wales at the University of Wales College of Medicine. My basic training was split between Cardiff & Leeds where I completed my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Surgery in General. I then undertook Orthopaedic training in Sheffield on the North Trent Orthopaedic Training Rotation. I gained my Intercollegiate Fellowship from the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in the UK in 1998. During my last 2 years in Sheffield I undertook both adult & paediatric foot & ankle surgery under supervision. I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 2000, initially in Taunton, Somerset, England and subsequently in Hamilton New Zealand since 2004. I entered full time private practice in 2009. My practice is now a mixture of lower limb problems with interests in lower limb sports injuries, ligament reconstruction & foot & ankle problems both elective & post traumatic.
